"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."
Yogis On The Move was started by Jessica Kang who had returned to Los Angeles in 2010 after 3 years of teaching and traveling in Hong Kong, Korea, Haiti, and in different parts of India. She came back home ready to share what she had learned on and off the mat . . . her practice, yoga teachers, students, and her experience.
L.A. yoga world had changed since she left after her teacher training in 2007. There were more yoga teachers from the boom of teacher training. It wasn't as easy as she had imagined it would be to find teaching opportunities. Newer teachers were vying for class schedules that would otherwise have gone to more experienced senior teachers. The environment wasn't as 'friendly' as she remembered. She wanted no part of it.
Without any teaching gigs waiting for her she had to take on any teaching opportunities which weren't much and without a car! And if you know L.A., no one walks in L.A. (Before Uber) Hello, public transportation! Not having a car and carpooling with her roomie from Burbank she focused her energy in Downtown L.A.
She saw a need and want for great yoga classes with great teachers and with the lack there of not to mention the lack of convenience in getting to the few and far in between locations she found her calling. Instead of having students come to her in some hard to find parking location in downtown Jessica decided to bring the classes to them. No excuses not to practice or even start practicing. The convenience we bring is just part of what Yogis On Move is all about.
Yogis On The Move is about helping to build a strong connected community within a community. To be part of a communal space where people can come gather, connect, practice and grow in a safe supported environment was part of her vision.
With the help from her fellow teachers who shared her vision and wanted to support her in this new and growing community, Yogis On The Move was created. We are a group of dedicated yoga teachers from all backgrounds and lineages who wants to share our knowledge and to be part of a healthy solution for a healthy community
Yoga teaches you that nothing is impossible. It brings you more awareness to your potential and all that is possible. It won't make your life perfect but you'll be perfectly fine with that.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions, of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
